The world’s biggest travellers’ online network voting Byron Bay Australia’s most awarded destination reinforces the international marketing campaign for the Northern Rivers says Northern Rivers Tourism.
“Byron Bay to the Northern Rivers is like the Opera House is to Sydney, or Venice is to Italy, so we need to continue to promote Byron in our international marketing to capitalize on its positive image overseas,” says CEO for Northern Rivers Tourism, Russell Mills.
“Importantly it vindicates our international marketing direction in promoting the Northern Rivers, with our theme ‘Byron Bay and Beyond’, which utilises Byron Bay as our number one drawcard and as the gateway to the rest of the Northern Rivers attractions and experiences.”

The roller-coaster of hills flanking the strip of coastline that connects the Northern Rivers region of NSW with Queensland is one of the most scenic sections of the Pacific Highway. But a distant glimpse is probably as much as many travellers have enjoyed. The holiday road more commonly ends at the Gold Coast or Byron Bay's famous beaches less than an hour's drive away.

The Northern Rivers region will benefit from over $1 million in grant funding toward three seperate tourism development projects announced by the Federal Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson in mid December
The TQUAL Grants Program is an Australian Government initiative which puts a premium on innovation, quality and economic benefit from tourism.
$500,000 in TQUAL grants have been provided to assist the development of a strong and vibrant tourism brand for the Legendary Pacific Coast Touring Route, spanning the east coast of NSW from Sydney to the QLD border.
The Pacific Coast Touring Route is an incorporated association of four NSW North Coast Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) including Northern Rivers Tourism, Central Coast Tourism, Mid North Coast Tourism and Hunter Tourism.
